SkoolZA

Terms of use

Effective {{EFFECTIVE_DATE}}

Draft. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. They are published so that the service can be assessed before launch and will be replaced by the reviewed version before subscriptions go on sale.

1. Who we are

SkoolZA is operated by {{LEGAL_NAME}} ({{REGISTRATION}}), {{ADDRESS}}. In these terms "we" and "us" means {{LEGAL_NAME}}, and "you" means the person who holds the account. Our contact details are on the contact page.

2. The service

SkoolZA is an online learning service for the CAPS Mathematics and Physical Sciences curriculum for Grade 10 to 12. It includes lessons, practice activities, feedback on answers and photographed working, a Mentor that answers questions about the activity you are on, and a limited number of personal courses on topics you choose.

Lessons, questions and feedback are produced with artificial intelligence. Published catalogue topics are checked by a qualified teacher before release, but neither the lessons nor the feedback are guaranteed to be free of errors. Personal courses you build yourself are not checked by a teacher. SkoolZA is a study aid. It does not replace a school, a teacher or official assessments, and we make no promise about marks or results.

3. Accounts

  • You need an account to use SkoolZA. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • If the learner is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must create the account, agree to these terms and consent to the processing of the learner's personal information as described in our privacy policy.
  • A subscription is for one learner. Do not share an account between learners.

4. Subscription and payment

  • The subscription costs R99 a month ({{PRICE_NOTE}}). The price shown when you subscribe is the price you pay.
  • Payment is taken by card through Paystack. The first payment is taken when you subscribe and then once a month on the same date until you cancel.
  • If a monthly payment fails, access to new lessons and practice is paused until the card is updated. Work you have already done is kept.
  • We will give you at least {{PRICE_NOTICE_DAYS}} days' notice by email of any price change. The new price applies from your first payment after the notice period, and you may cancel before then.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. How cancellation and refunds work is set out on the cancellations and refunds page, which forms part of these terms.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use SkoolZA to break the law, to upload material you have no right to share, to harass anyone, to try to access other people's accounts or our systems, or to copy and resell our lessons. We may suspend or close an account that does so, after telling you why where it is safe to do so.

7. Your work and our content

  • Answers, photographs and files you upload stay yours. You allow us to store and process them to provide the service to you, as described in our privacy policy.
  • Lessons and other material in the catalogue belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own study while your subscription is active.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep SkoolZA available but cannot promise uninterrupted access. We may change or improve the service. If a change materially reduces what you pay for, we will tell you and you may cancel.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of SkoolZA, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

10. Changes to these terms

We will tell you by email at least {{PRICE_NOTICE_DAYS}} days before a change to these terms that affects you takes effect.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint. You may also approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.
